Got up this morning and decided to drive to San Francisco and take my mountain bike for some adventure. I started at Lombard Street, the famous windy curvy road downtown. I enjoyed riding down it twice. The first video below shows my GoPro helmet cam perspective of my ride down the windy road. It even includes a special appearance by a famouse trolly car! The second highlight video below, among other things, shows a bit from Lombard from another perspective..

Also, 2 blocks from Lombard was Filbert Street. I think that section of Filbert off of Hyde is one of the most amazing views. I had fun taking pics there and even hammed it up a bit to highlight the extreme slope of the hill. I could not believe how steep it was and it was incredible to see cars drive it.
As cool as all the above was, the highlight of the day was the trek across the Golden Gate Bridge. I rode from the Lombard Area and followed San Fran Bike Route #2 to get to the bridge. It was such a cool feeling riding up the ramp and entering into the cycling lane on the north side of the bridge.
It was also HORRIFYING!
I started riding. Slowly. Clinging to the inside of the railing, as shown in the video shot by a friend on the other side of the bridge, I made my way. I don’t think I started breathing until the halfway point. I did not look over the edge once. I did stop a few times to takes some pix. The video below was shot on a friend’s cell phone. The firsts part shows me clinging to the railing…and the second part shows me actually riding somewhat normally.
Below are some of my fave pix from the ride and below the pix is the whole video of my ride across the bridge. Not sure why anyone would want to watch it, but it’s there if you do.
