Flying Video Takes Off

Who knew that as I was departing for a business trip to Orlando from Salt Lake City that a silly video of my walking onto a plane would take off? (See below)

I saw the monitor in the terminal that said 110 seats were available on the flight. So I decided to shoot video as I entered the plane and anticipating seeing it mostly empty. I was right about that.

The video is quite boring but apparently some feel it represented the impact of the Coronavirus on travel. I have been contacted by over 20 news organizations for permission to either use or buy the video. News groups from the U.S. including the Associated Press, ABC News, Fox News and a few from abroad including Switzerland, the Middle East and Japan.

I was even contacted by Inside Edition to appear on their show on Wednesday. I missed the deadline because I was in business meetings.

I decided to shoot video on the return flight. There were 80 empty seats on this flight. And lo and behold, ABC News contacted me about that video as well. See below.

Of course Twitter is notorious for negativity. I had about 10 people tell me they did not believe it and they wanted to see the airline confirm the empty flights. I have posted a couple below.

This was definitely a bizarre experience. The video continues to go viral and is growing in impressions each day. That will start to taper off and then like most other news, will fade away into distant memory and be forgotten.
