Freudenfreude and Shadenfreude

One of my favorite words is Freudenfreude. It’s a German compound work generally meaning joy-joy, or taking happiness in the joy or success of others. This reminds me of the the Rena and Stimpy show, where they would repeatedly say, “Happy happy joy joy!” Here is a link to the song.

In my study of Monks, there is a word, MUDITA, which has a similar meaning.

Shadenfreude is taking pleasure in the suffering or bad fortune of others. Shadenfreude does NOT bring freudenfreude!!

Below are my thoughts from the trail on the two words.
