When we try to fit in, we are seeking acceptance. We learn what to talk about, what to wear, where to go, etc. in order to fit in.

Fitting in and belonging are NOT the same thing.
When you fit in, you are changing yourself to match the situation or circumstances. The truth is that fitting in gets in the way of belonging. You could almost say it is a “near enemy” of belonging. (See related post)
Belonging does not requires us to CHANGE who we are; it requires us to BE who we are!
Enjoyed! Great thoughts Dr. Andersen.
