Winter March(ed) IN and Still Hasn’t Left

Well March is over, spring has begun but winter has not ended here in Utah.

As I am typing this on the 31st of March, snow is falling, there are 800+ inches of snow in the mountains, and there is more on the way.

While there is talk of spring time in other parts of the country, it seems like a distant fantasy to me.

With the exception of a few pix from Las Vegas and the Color Festival, the theme of the month and the photos below is definitely one of ongoing and deep winter.

I made several visits to Utah Lake during the month. This first group of photos are the highlights from those visits. On one visit, I kayaked through the icy waters. It was terrific!

I spent a lot time photography and taking time lapses of Mount Timpanogos during the month. Here are a few of my fave pix and vids.

This was my first time to such an event. It was about 34 degrees and was snowing during part of the event. The crowd is usually much bigger. Nonetheless, it was certainly one of the most fun things I have ever done. It was such a positive event with lots of terrific energy.

I was able to do some snowshoeing and a couple regular hikes during the month. They were all fantastic. I was able to get wildlife shots of both humans and other animals!

Elk!! One of several herds I encountered.
Wildlife of all types were coming down out of the mountains to feed due to the long, hard winter.

It is going to be a very muddy beginning to the hiking season.
Your happy author thrilled to be out on the trails in Provo Canyon.

After finishing a business meeting in SLC, I was giving a colleague a ride back to Park City when I spotted Woodward Park. I saw all of the elements on the slope. I went back after dropping off my co-worker and made a few images. Can’t wait to go back.

I made it to Vegas again and had some fun in the early morning and after hours. I was able to hike in Red Rock Canyon which was wonderful. I also avoid being murdered by Chuckie on Fremont Street.

We are through the first quarter of 2023. Holy cow. Someone asked me yesterday how my year was going. My honest response was…

This is one of the best years yet!

I can’t wait to see how the last three quarters go. If the first is any indication, it is going to be a wild, crazy and fun 2023.

Stay tuned!
