Climbing Closer to the Summit
Today, Ann and I climbed up more than half way to 4.1 miles. We had a 2,100 foot elevation increase on this wonderfully beautiful journey on a day with perfect hiking weather. Another key milestone for today was the fact that we reached 9,500 feet of altitude on the hike. That is the highest I have ever been hiking.
Timpooneke Delight
One of trails that leads to the summit of Timp is the Timpooneke (tim-poo-new-key) Trail. This morning, after the rain stopped, I drove up into American Fork Canyon and went to the trail. My intention was to hike about 1.4 miles in on the trail, count it as a bit of practice for the 14.2 mile hike to the summit and back.
Primrose Overlook
Sometimes being in the wrong place works out fine. My hike today was an example of that.
Double the Peaks, Double the Pix
Three things made today's hike fantastic. First, Ann joined me. She is a good and adventurous hiking companion. Second, most of the hike was new. Third, the scenery was stunning.
Alpine Poppies
When I arrived near the location of the flowers in the park, I could see little spots for bright orange from the distance and I could see that there were a few people who had beat me there this early in the morning.
Macro on the Trail
As I got out of my car at the trail head for this morning's hike, I decided to make it a macro-only day. After gearing up and getting my pack on, I headed out on the trail.
Dawn of Productivity
While hiking this Sunday morning, I was quite productive. I was able to listen to 8 chapters of scriptures, listen to the framework of the Sunday School lesson we will do at home today, enjoy a wide range of spiritual music, and of course, enjoy the beauty of creation.
Proud of the Plethora of Popping Poppies
The pods started popping about 2 says ago. I have been so busy with work, that I really haven't even had time to look at them until this morning.
Hodge Photo Podge
I had some great hikes this week. Here are some of my favorite snaps from 3 different hikes during the week.
